I was born in Barcelona in 1994. It is a city that shapes you without announcing itself. Mediterranean, open, quietly cosmopolitan, growing up there meant being exposed to different cultures, ways of speaking, and ways of living.

Barcelona taught me restraint. It taught me that strength does not need to shout to exist.

I was born to a Spanish mother and an Indian father, a dual heritage that deeply shaped my way of life from a very young age. Travelling back and forth between Europe and India with my father exposed me to the beauty of gemstones. I learned from him how stones become jewelry and began to understand how these stones travel across continents carrying history, culture and meaning with them.

Cities like Ibiza, Menorca, and Taormina in Italy further expanded my creative language, giving me new ways to express myself through jewelry. Combined with my heritage and these journeys, they shaped my interest in design from an early age.

This growing passion for design naturally guided me to the bench, where I could turn ideas into tangible pieces.

I always wanted to work at the bench and when I got my first one, I began making rings and bangles for myself, and later for friends in Barcelona. That city and those experiences continue to influence how I see the world today.

They led to the creation of Mateo Perez, a project built to offer the highest standard of jewelry possible.

Each piece is made with clarity, restraint, and respect for materials, produced ethically without shortcuts. The focus is on craft, not spectacle.

Jewelry for me has always been about love, passion, and memories.
